Exceeds Expectations

My needs are different than most; fairly low volume (1K per month), thick paper (300gsm) duplexed, very high print quality. The C9000 is one of the few that can handle heavy paper and the print quality is fantastic. I did get off to a rocky start with tech support, but I have to say the folks I was dealing with on the sales side worked hard to make it happen. When a tech came out this guy was *fantastic*; not the awful "let's try rebooting and see if that helps" kind of person, but knew every nuance of this class of device. In the end, they got everything working. Print quality on this is absolutely fantastic. It far exceeded my (high) expectations. The print speed is not only fast, as advertised, but the waiting around for it to decide to print is much lower than than other printers. For example, the time it takes to "recover" from e.g. not having paper in the bypass try is much faster than any other printer I've had. As others have noted, cost for consumables is high. But then again, a) I knew this going in, b) it's not *that* high, and c) if you're more worried about cost per page than print quality, this is probably the wrong device for you in the first place. The eConcierge service (although I haven't done anything but sign up for it) is great; free service just for buying OEM toner cartridges? Great deal! And no, I would never consider putting non-OEM toner into a $6,000 printer in the first place. Bottom line: Absolutely great device and no regrets about the purchase decision.

This would've been a wonderful upgrade

I hope one day Xerox makes these printers available again. It's really tragic that they've discontinued offering them. I hope the engineers are working on something to replace it so they can offer something like it one day. There's nothing else in the industry that comes close.

Excellent print quality and speed. Unwarranted cost of consumables.

Bought this printer to replace a 7760 that would no longer be covered by Xerox service. Print quality is excellent, speed is good, features are good but the cost of operation and the confusing setups make this printer less friendly than the 7760. Toner cartridges are smaller and much more expensive than the ones for the 7760. Maybe if we had opted for the service contract that included supplies it would have been less expensive to operate. We print primarily from the leading page design software and its drivers may be the cause of printing problems. The drivers have conflicting choices, especially for booklet printing. Changing the setup for paper trays is much more complicated than for the 7760 it replaced. You have to pull the tray out, log into the keypad and change the paper setup. If you send a landscape document to the printer set for portrait paper feed it stops and about the only way to change it is to cancel the job and start over. If you print the same job two or more times in a row (without closing anything or changing anything) you have to verify every print setting every time as it does not keep the settings. Again, great printing but very expensive to feed.

Great Office Printer

I use this printer for everything from basic reports to building small booklets. It has a rich feature set and is easy to use. We are a low volume office so it is important for the machine to wake and print fast. The C9000 fits this need well.

Slow, big, heavy, bulky and not appropriate for small team

I believe this is a workhorse printer--that needs to be in use constantly. We purchased it for our small distributed team to create more time and reduce outsourced repro costs and it has not been a good solution. It requires enterprise level technical support for connection and maintenance. There are software updates every 30 days that require 30 minutes of downtime. It is slow and would work best on more than a LAN. It is finicky when it comes to the paper trays. And, despite what the CDW salesman told me, it weighs much more than 80 pounds and is delivered on a custom built skid. It prints. That's it. The color management is rudimentary. And placed images--even transparent PNGs are exposed on color fields even when the appropriate printer driver is installed. It does not have any other capability -- I had hoped that we could download a scanning app, since the OS is supposedly extendable--and that is not available on this printer. =( Hindsight is 2020 and we should have opted for a different solution for a color laser that would print 11 x 17 on both sides for our presentation decks.
