 | The leader in Document Management is a subsidiary of Xerox Corporation operated in Egypt since 1978 to provide quality office products and solutions to the Egyptian market. Xerox Egypt is part of Xerox Middle East and Africa Operations headquartered in UK. It employs more than 600 people in Egypt, including over 100 engaged in manufacturing and distribution functions. In addition to its head office in Cairo, Xerox Egypt has over 30 outlets including branch offices and dealers covering the whole country. Xerox Egypt remains the only global copier company to maintain a full operating subsidiary in Egypt.
Since 1985, Xerox Egypt has operated its own Industrial Center, located in 6th of October City. The facility has been developed continuously over the past fourteen years. The company has steadily increased the level of output from its modern assembly facilities, expanded the product array and furthered the application of the latest manufacturing technologies. All products marketed in Egypt are processed through the factory. Emphasis in recent years has been on increasing the use of Egyptian sourced parts and material in the finished products, and this has been successfully achieved in commodities such as sheet metal, plastics and electronics. The industrial site in the 6th of October City also houses one of the first "Surface Mount Technology" electronics manufacturing facilities in the Middle East.
Through its manufacturing plant, Xerox Egypt exports to destinations as diverse as Russia, Eastern European countries, the United Kingdom (for the British Royal Navy), Kenya, Saudi Arabia and others. In 1998 Xerox Egypt received the "Export Award" from the Ministry of Trade for its great export contribution in service to the Egyptian Economy. It is considered to be amongst the most rigorous and professional companies in the Middle East and Africa, producing high quality products for home and international markets. Last year Xerox Egypt exported nearly 12000 units around the world, bringing over $12M into the Egyptian economy. With rigorous manufacturing systems in place the quality of the Egyptian-made products equals or surpasses the level of output of any other facility in the world, and the factory in the 6th of October City was the first in Egypt to receive International ISO 9002 certification from the British Standard Institute in 1994 for consistent high-quality production.
The 6th of October site also serves as a base for the Xerox Egypt distribution network and includes purpose-built warehouse and distribution facilities where the latest JIT (Just in Time) transportation and handling methodology has been introduced. To help large companies cope with the recent exponential growth of information in document form, Xerox has developed a comprehensive Document Management service as well as a Facilities Management service, or Outsourcing where Xerox personnel take full control of a company's document production, distribution and storage systems from supplies to hardware- even to document design, via centralized or decentralized on-site facilities.
Xerox regards service as an important element of its product, offering a level of service that makes a real difference to customers. That's why Xerox Egypt has built an extensive service and support infrastructure. Xerox Egypt has the largest nation wide team of field service engineers. The Xerox regional training center for the Middle East and Africa is located in Cairo and provides training and technical support services to more than 30 countries. A computer network links engineers to a central database so that they can quickly obtain immediate information on customers and their machines. Over its 20 years of operation in Egypt, Xerox Egypt succeeded because it maintains the principle that the customer comes first combined with an ethic of Total Quality. It has delivered excellent returns to its shareholders and aims for continued success. |
