Calibration and Profiling
Color Calibration and Profiling is a fully automated process within the PredictPrint Stock Wizard. The Stock Wizard hands off the stock information to the Fiery Print Server to initiate the process. Calibration and Profiling is performed after all other adjustments are completed.
The need for Calibration and Profiling is first determined by the PredictPrint Cloud Server based on the stock properties, then performed and managed by the Fiery Print Server. The Calibration and Profiling process uses the Full Width Array. Each individual stock is first calibrated and then profiled. Profiling each stock is performed once. Recalibration is performed after the set time limit has expired for the stock-barcode, and it is scanned again to load the stock into a tray. The calibration process takes about 60 sheets for the first time the stock is added, then about 18 sheets for each recalibration.
With the Fiery® Print Server version 2.0, FS600, the Calibration and Profiling process is streamlined and enhanced further, as follows:
1. By using the Group Adjustments By feature, the print server can group stocks with common Coating or Media Name when the stock passes a new Color Check routine. The first passing stock only requires 7 sheets to be calibrated, followed by 3 sheets for the Color Check routine. Any additional stock added for calibration requires only 3 sheets, if successful.
2. If you decide to maintain Individual Stock as the method for Calibration and Profiling, then the process requires about 30 sheets the first time the stock is added, then 7 sheets for each recalibration.
3. A Color Check routine is performed prior to recalibration, when needed. If the stock passes the routine, no further sheet printing is required, and the calibration expiration time limit is extended.
Note: The Calibration and Profiling process is enhanced on Fiery® Print Server version 2.0, FS600 or newer software version. To find your print server version or Fiery System version, on the Fiery Command WorkStation window, go to Server > Device Center > GENERAL > General Info, then refer to Fiery Server or Fiery System. This information is accessible also on the Fiery configuration page, printed through Fiery® Print Server.
The default time limit for recalibration is 7 days. From the print server, you can change the default 7-day time setting for calibration. On the Fiery Print Server Device Center, click General > Tools > Calibrator, then click the small gear icon at the bottom of the page.
Calibration and Profiling proceeds as follows:
1. On the Advanced screen, after the semi-automatic setup routines are complete, the Stock Wizard starts the Calibration and Profiling process automatically.
Note: If there are no semi-automatic setup routines to perform, the Calibration and Profiling process is done on the Setup screen.
2. The PredictPrint Stock Wizard coordinates with the Fiery Print Server. The Color Profiling and Calibration Check is done automatically, and the progress appears on the Fiery Color Xpress window.
3. To cancel the Calibration and Profiling process, on the Fiery Color Xpress window, click Cancel.
4. When the Calibration and Profiling process is complete, a Success message appears and the Fiery Color Xpress window closes automatically.
5. After the Calibration and Profiling process completes, the Done and Close screen appears.
If needed, you can perform other Calibration and Profiling procedures outside of the PredictPrint Stock Wizard using the Fiery Calibrator on the Fiery Print Server. For more information, refer to the Fiery Print Server documentation at Fiery - Xerox Versant 4100 Press.
