Loading Envelopes in the Bypass Tray
For supported envelope sizes, refer to Supported Paper.
To load envelopes in the Bypass Tray:
1. Open the Bypass Tray. Push the release latch (1) at the front-right side of the tray.

2. If required, pull out the extension tray.

3. Move the width guides to the right edge of the tray.

Note:If you do not load envelopes in the Bypass Tray right after they are removed from the packaging, they can bulge. To avoid jams, flatten the envelopes.

4. Load envelopes in the tray. For envelopes with the flap on a long edge, load envelopes with the flaps face down and closed. Keep the flaps toward the left.

Note:An envelope such as 6 x 9 in. (152 x 228 mm), with the flap on the short edge, insert the envelope with the flap toward the feed direction.
5. At the control panel, select the correct paper size, type, and color. Ensure that the paper type is set to Envelope.
6. To confirm the settings, touch Confirm.
7. To return to the Home screen, press the Home button.
