Understanding Unstructured InformationMost of todays information is unstructured. Teaching computers to read and understand text like humans is no easy task. We program them to not only decode characters, words and sentences, but to do so within a context. This allows them to make connections between and across the words, facts and situations described by the language, bringing the critical key points buried in a sea of information to the forefront of important business decisions.
Teaching Computers to SeeNew techniques and algorithms in computer vision mean that computers now can not only recognize what they see in videos and photos but also can compare what they see in detail. Xerox state-of-the-art technology in fine-grained image recognition and classification is currently being applied to solve problems in the fields of healthcare, transportation, retail and document workflow imaging.
