How to Pad Carbonless Paper

You can pad a set of Xerox carbonless paper by following six simple steps. Let us take you through them one at a time right here. You'll be doing it yourself in no time! Using Xerox fan-out padding adhesive, Xerox carbonless paper and a brush, follow these six easy steps to create perfect sets every time

Step 1

Jog the stack so that the edge to be padded is smooth.

Step 2

Weight the stack by covering it with chipboard, then placing a flat weight on the stack, even with the edge to be padded. Make sure the stack is on a solid foundation. Both the weight and the chipboard should cover the full width of the edge to be padded. Use one pound of weight for every inch of width to be padded. You can also use a padding rack or frame.

Step 3

Thoroughly saturate the brush by immersing it into the adhesive until it is fully loaded. Be sure you have enough adhesive on hand to wet the dry edge of the paper.

Step 4

Begin applying adhesive at the bottom of the stack. Hold the brush at a 45-degree angle. Slowly move the brush horizontally across the stack. Frequently reload the brush as you continue up the stack. If the formset requires a post-printing operation such as numbering, extend the adhesive more than one inch around the corner of the stack to improve runnability. Only one coat of adhesive is needed.

Step 5

Let the adhesive dry. The drying time you will need to allow depends on factors such as the temperature, relative humidity and airflow in your environment. For best results, wait at least one hour before handling the formsets.

Step 6

After drying, fan the formsets from the corners. Use your thumbs to ensure that all sets separate.
