A New Kind of Web Publishing – Trailmeme Launches at DEMOfall 2010
New Service Powers Creative, Contextualized Curation on the Web
“Historically, concepts like ‘trails’ and ‘trailblazing’ date back to 1945 and Vannevar Bush’s idea of a ‘memex.’ But that vision has largely gone unrealized. Trailmeme delivers on this vision and goes even further by incorporating more recent innovations in web publishing, emerging web standards and sophisticated browser capabilities.” Venkatesh Rao, Entrerpreneur-in-Residence and Trailmeme Project Manager at Xerox Corporation
"Trailmeme is the result of the entrepreneurial spirit and customer-focused approach embraced by the researchers at Xerox. This technology is part of the portfolio of Xerox innovations that offer simpler, smarter and visual ways to communicate content and create and share information on the Web." Sophie Vandebroek, chief technology officer and president, Xerox Innovation Group
Trailmeme is a new Web publishing technology that makes it possible to blaze, publish and curate creatively-crafted visual trails through Web content. Through the destination site and a suite of tools including browser plug-ins, bookmarklets and plug-ins for website owners, Trailmeme provides both content producers and consumers the means to experience Web content in deeper ways.
Founded in 2009, Trailmeme is a project developed and incubated within the Xerox Innovation Group.
