Sophie Vandebroek is the chief technology officer of Xerox Corporation and president of the Xerox Innovation Group since 2006.
Dr. Vandebroek is responsible for overseeing Xerox’s research centers in Europe, Asia, Canada and U.S. as well as the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC Inc.).
Previously, she was chief engineer of Xerox Corporation and vice president of the Xerox Engineering Center, technical advisor to Xerox's chief operating officer and director of the Xerox Research Centre of Canada.
Dr. Vandebroek is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, a Fulbright Fellow and a Fellow of the Belgian-American Educational Foundation. She holds 14 U.S. patents. Dr. Vandebroek has received awards from Xerox, IBM, HP, Monsanto, the Belgium National Science Foundation, Semiconductor Research Corporation, IEEE and Cornell University. Dr. Vandebroek was inducted into the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame and elected into the Royal Flemish Academy for Arts & Sciences.
Dr. Vandebroek is a member of the Board of Directors of Analogic Corporation and IDEXX Laboratories. She also serves on the advisory council of the dean of Engineering at MIT.
VVandebroek was born in Leuven, Belgium where she earned a master's degree in electro-mechanical engineering from Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven, Belgium. She received her Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.

Monica BeltramettiVice President and Center Manager

Dr. Monica Beltrametti is Vice President of the Xerox Research Centre Europe (XRCE) with headquarters in Grenoble, France.
The research centre develops software technologies for Xerox solutions and services, while drawing from European scientific know-how and customer knowledge. XRCE's unique competencies in analyzing text and images in documents are at the heart of many of the components in the ‘Smarter Document ManagementSM suite and have led to the creation of several new technology-based service offerings at Xerox and Xerox start-ups. Others have been sold to companies with whom Xerox nurtures a business partnership.
Beltrametti joined Xerox in 1993 when XRCE was created. She helped build up the centre creating an international scientific community of about fifteen nationalities. For two years she was Vice President and General Manager of the Xerox Worldwide Process, Consumer and Utilities Business, with responsibility for the Pharmaceutical, Petroleum & Chemical, Consumer and Utilities industry segments within Xerox Global Services. From 2006 to 2008, Beltrametti was head of Global Technology and Offering Development (GTOD) at Xerox Global Services, a role she took on while continuing her leadership at XRCE. The GTOD group builds and deploys the software platforms and customer offerings that underpin the growth and leadership position of Xerox in document services.
In Europe, she has been part of many European Union boards and initiatives and is currently part of the Women in Science and Technology (WiST) working group. In Grenoble, Dr. Beltrametti is on the advisory board of the International Business School.
Prior to joining Xerox, Beltrametti worked in Canada as director of Computing and Network Services at the University of Alberta, where she pioneered a multi-million dollar program to modernize campus computing that earned the university several North American awards. In Canada she also worked as director of Software Development at Myrias Research Corporation, developer of scientific parallel computers under contract with the America and Canadian Departments of Defense.
Beltrametti has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Astrophysics from the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics in Munich (Germany). She has held scientific positions in this field with this institute and a number of other research organizations in Germany, and at NASA in California.
She has received awards and fellowships from Xerox, the German, US and Canadian governments, and from research institutions such as the Max Planck Institute. She was one of the first young scientists to receive the German Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) fellowship to study in Germany.

Stephen Hoover is CEO of PARC, a Xerox company. Hoover joined PARC in 2011, shortly after the company celebrated 40 years of pioneering technological change and as it approaches a decade of working across a broader set of clients and industries since its incorporation in 2002. With a track record that combines business leadership, research, and engineering, Hoover specializes in integrating technology, market, customer, and business opportunities -- from fundamental R&D, to commercial scale-up.
Motivated by his passion for establishing strong cultures of innovation, Hoover has developed strategies for understanding potential markets, customers, and business models; exploring and incubating very early stage ideas through seed funds; improving IP generation practices; empowering individual researchers; and bridging functional silos.
Hoover has led research and long-term technology investments that span grid and cloud computing, cleantech, nanotech, mobile, and the Future of Work, as well as advanced printing and mass customization technologies. As vice president of the Xerox Research Center of Webster (NY), he supported core and next-generation R&D for products and services, and later led the global organization responsible for the company's software and electronics development. In these roles, Hoover was responsible for multi-million dollar R&D investments and product strategy encompassing several platforms and numerous market offerings.
Dr. Stephen Hoover obtained Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University, and earned 1of 10 national fellowships at AT&T Bell Labs. He has 7 patents issued and pending.
Paul SmithVice President and Centre Manager of Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC)

Paul joined Xerox in 1995 and has held a variety of managerial positions at XRCC. He has managed teams that developed materials for Xerox product platforms, including solid ink components, and new inks for Xerox Phaser platform, Xerox ColorQube and the CiPress platform. From 2008 – 2009 he was Manager Xerox Strategy Integration and Planning, based in Rochester, New York, with responsibility for technology alignment across Xerox technology platforms.
Paul received his Ph.D. in the field of Chemistry from the University of Bath, England in 1991, was an NSERC Fellow from 1995 to 1997, and in 2001 received an MBA from the Rotman School of Management, at the University of Toronto.
He is a named inventor on 68 U.S. patents and has 16 publications.
Tom KavassalisVice President of Strategy and Alliances

Tom Kavassalis is Vice President of Strategy and Alliances for the Xerox Innovation Group (XIG) - a position he has held since 2006.
As Vice President of Strategy and Alliances, Tom leads strategy development for the Xerox Innovation Group. In this role, Tom ensures that Xerox has a balanced portfolio of research and technology investments supporting Xerox's near term business strategies and creating options for the future. His alliances work is focused on leveraging external innovation.
Joining the Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC) in 1987 as a member of the research staff, Tom worked in the field of polymer physics, developing theories and models to explain the mechanical and rheological properties of polymeric materials. He also established a competence in modeling and simulation of material systems. His further research areas included the study of molecular level models of phase transitions, solubility behaviors and stress-strain behaviors. While conducting research at XRCC, Tom maintained a concurrent appointment as adjunct professor at the University of Waterloo. Tom became Associate Centre Manager of XRCC in 1995. He has been associated with the strategy and planning functions in XIG, and the former research and technology organizations, since 1997.
Prior to joining Xerox, Tom served as a research scientist at Ontario Hydro Research Division and as a visiting scientist at the Instituut Lorentz in the Netherlands.
Tom holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from MIT. His thesis research was in the field of statistical mechanics.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Tom currently lives in Oakville, Canada with his wife Catherine, his son Nicholas and daughter Sarah. Away from work, his interests include nature photography, woodturning, rebuilding vintage cars, and auto-racing. He will always be a bad golfer.

Dr. James Larson is vice president and center manager of the Xerox Research Center Webster for Xerox Corporation. He was named to this position in October 2009.
Larson is responsible for the operations management of XRCW, one of the five Xerox research and technology centers around the world. In that role he is responsible for research and technology in software, solutions, imaging, cross-media technologies and marking processes and hardware that leads and supports Xerox's strategy for printing, publishing, multi-function systems, controllers, workflow and services.
Jim joined Xerox in 1991 and has had a number of leadership roles in XIG and Corporate Strategy where he was exposed to a wide range of technologies and business models: from nanotechnology to services. About a decade ago Jim was leading R&D prioritization for all of Xerox, a job in which he was exposed to all aspects of Xerox's business. Jim rejoined XIG in 2002 and delivered Jupiter to the business team and managed the high-speed continuous feed solid ink project from inception through delivery to the engineering team in the business group. Most recently Jim managed the Marking Elements & Integration Laboratory within XRCW. As head of that lab, Jim was responsible for the Inkjet Platforms and integration of Xerox's xerographic and inkjet marking competencies. Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across a wide variety of marking technologies, both xerographic and inkjet, as well as other non-traditional digital marking technologies.
Jim has 63 issued US patents and authored 34 technical publications. He received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Washington in 1980, and two years later, after a post doctoral appointment at the University of Chicago, he joined the DuPont Company. In 1984 he became part of a small DuPont team working on liquid electrostatic toner technology. By 1987 this effort grew into DX Imaging, a partnership company parented by DuPont and Xerox, of which Jim was a founding member.

Manish Gupta is Vice President at Xerox Corporation and Director of Xerox Research Centre India. Previously, Manish has served as a Managing Director, Technology Division at Goldman Sachs in India, and has held various leadership positions with IBM, including that of Director, IBM Research - India and Chief Technologist, IBM India/South Asia. From 2001 to 2006, he served as a Senior Manager at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York, where he led the team developing system software for the Blue Gene/L supercomputer. IBM was awarded a National Medal of Technology and Innovation for Blue Gene by US President Barack Obama in 2009.
Manish earned a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from IIT Delhi in 1987, a Master of Science degree from the Ohio State University in 1988 and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1992. He has co-authored over 75 papers, with more than 5,000 citations in Google Scholar in the areas of high-performance computing, compilers, and Java Virtual Machine optimizations, and has been granted more than 15 US patents. While at IBM, Manish received an Outstanding Innovation Award, two Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards and the Lou Gerstner Team Award for Client Excellence. Manish was named an ACM Fellow in 2012.
