Malware Alert – Scanned or faxed “from a WorkCentre Pro” or other Xerox device.
Xerox’s Holly Turner advises all users to only open e-mail files that are sent from a reliable, identifiable, and verifiable source. A key way to determine if this is a scam e-mail versus a real e-mail, is that the “From” field of the spam e-mail will mimic an actual user’s e-mail address, as opposed to a machine name address (i.e. wxp245@xerox.com).

Alan Sukert commented on a eWeek article about a new report that reveals a vast majority (81.4 percent) of IT security staff think employees ignore security policies and/or rules. In his comment, Alan mentions that the results are consistent with a conclusion from a recent Xerox and McAfee survey that found more than half (54 percent) of employees say they don’t always follow their company’s IT security policies (33 percent) or aren’t even aware of the policies (21 percent).
