Offers the best image quality, OCR accuracy in its category
PLEASANTON, Calif., Nov. 13, 2003  -- The Xerox DocuMate series of workgroup scanners announced today are the first workgroup scanners to combine the power of scanning, PDF file creation and document management, while also offering the highest level of image quality and optical character recognition (OCR) accuracy.

The series of scanners includes the new DocuMate 250, DocuMate 520 and DocuMate 510. The are developed, marketed and supported by , based on the trademark licensing agreement between the two companies announced earlier this year.

All three scanners come bundled with a powerful suite of document and image management applications. The DocuMate 250 and 520 scanners are the first workgroup models to bundle Kofax's award-winning VirtualReScan (VRS) 2.1 software, which improves image quality and increases overall efficiency of the scanning process for document management applications.

"The DocuMate series establishes a new standard of excellence in image quality and OCR accuracy not currently available in the workgroup scanner segment," said Susan Moyse, InfoTrends Research Group. "They are affordable, easy-to-use and provide robust features and benefits for business users, including a small footprint, scan speed options, binary and color image capture, user-friendly controls and productive application bundles."

In addition, the DocuMate scanners are the first scanners to link directly to Xerox DocuShare 3.0, intuitive and secure Web-based document management software that helps workgroups and document-intensive businesses to capture, manage, retrieve and distribute information. The link makes it easy for businesses to bring paper documents from the isolated and loosely controlled environment of boxes and filing cabinets into the secure, managed environment of DocuShare.

The Xerox DocuMate 250 is a 22 page-per-minute color sheetfed scanner with one of the smallest footprints on the market.

The Xerox DocuMate 520 is a 20 ppm color flatbed scanner with three programmable buttons that instantly scan, copy/print or e-mail any document.

The Xerox DocuMate 510 is a 10 ppm color flatbed scanner that features a 58 percent smaller footprint than its nearest flatbed competitor, making it the first high-speed scanner suitable for deployment for workgroups or for the desktop.

All three scanners include a 50-page capacity automatic document feeder, which can handle paper and photos from business cards up to legal-size documents.

The Xerox DocuMate family of workgroup scanners, along with their respective application bundles, are priced as follows: DocuMate 250 at $799.99, DocuMate 520 at $1199.99, and DocuMate 510 at $349.99.
