Barton & Cooney delivers millions of bank statements, invoices and marketing collaterals with Xerox's 495
BURLINGTON, N.J. and ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 08, 2009  -- To drive further efficiency, Barton & Cooney has installed Xerox Corporation's (NYSE: XRX) continuous feed technology for the production of more than 60 million financial, government, telecommunication and insurance related documents each year.

"Digital printing is taking over and marketing professionals realize that targeted print applications are critical," said Patrick Doyle, president, Barton & Cooney. "The installment of Xerox equipment is a solid addition to our production capabilities and offers us a competitive edge when competing for jobs."

The New Jersey-based printing and mailing operation added two Xerox 495™ Continuous Feed Duplex Printers, a 500 image-per-minute system that prints both sides of an 18-inch wide web with a single, compact print engine. The printer's two-sided printing capabilities allow Barton & Cooney to produce large volumes of documents, such as phone bills, insurance statements and direct-mail pieces, in a timely and secure manner.

Recently, Barton & Cooney used Xerox's 495 to complete 600,000 two-sided, direct mail pieces in four days for a state government client. "Quick turnaround times and exact image positioning are two essential factors in satisfying the customer's requirements, and the Xerox equipment delivered," Doyle added.

One of the distinctive features of the Xerox 495 system is its flash fusing technology, which uses high-intensity flash lamps and a uniquely-designed toner instead of conventional heat and pressure rollers. This gives Barton & Cooney improved registration, ability to print on a broad range of media, and increased productivity and reliability because the chances of paper jamming during the printing or finishing processes are reduced.

To further extend its direct marketing offerings, the company uses a wide variety of substrates, like Xerox DocuCards™, to create unique applications. Designed to be waterproof, tear-proof and durable, Xerox DocuCards are used to create membership cards, identification cards and loyalty cards where durability and professional looking images are important.
