| | | Honeywell is a $24 billion global company specializing in diversified technology and manufacturing, from aerospace systems and control systems to consumer and transportation products. The company employs over 100,000 people in 95 countries. Through its company-wide digitization process, Honeywell is focused on eliminating vast stores of different product, marketing and engineering materials created and stored in multiple locations. Additionally, Honeywell is aggressively consolidating production and office copier, printer, fax, and scanner assets to improve productivity and reduce costs.
At one of Honeywell's Automated & Control Solutions locations, they sought to improve access to valuable organizational knowledge stored in non-digital, paper based documents. They also wanted to reduce fulfillment cycle time for the company's Printing and Services Center. Xerox introduced its Web-based DocuShare collaboration tool to manage the documents' content and allow on-line access. Documents are scanned into DocuShare using the scanning functionality of Xerox's product. By utilizing the multiple functions of Xerox's technology, Honeywell has eliminated geographical boundaries and opened worldwide access to important information and documentation for their organization. Today, more than 30,000 Honeywell documents are available on-line through DocuShare, ranging from engineering drawings to marketing literature. Combining multifunctional technology with DocuShare has reduced shipping costs and ensured up-to-date material. Honeywell Printing and Services has also reduced document storage space requirements by 70 percent, and order fulfillment time by 80 percent. The location's document production costs are down by about 25 percent.
On a national basis, Honeywell is deploying Xerox's multifunctional technology to reduce the number of assets used to produce documents and change the behavior of its knowledge workers. By implementing technologies that can print, copy, fax, and scan, Honeywell is significantly reducing its operational spend while digitizing many of the manual processes used to produce and manage documents.
