More Than Xerox: We're Part of the Community At Xerox, we recognize the importance of reaching beyond our own walls to the communities where our offices are located and our employees live. We strive to take a leadership role in local communities as well as in the global community.
The Xerox Foundation provides financial support in several key areas. The University Affairs area supports graduate schools at various universities that are developing new technologies and teaching students how to use them. Current recipients of this support include:
- The United Negro College Fund
- Historically Black and Hispanic College Scholarships and Liaison Programs
- Technical Minority Scholarships
The Xerox Foundation's Community Affairs area grants awards to social service programs in communities where Xerox people live and work, both in the US and abroad. Beneficiaries include:
- National and local urban leagues
- The Navajo Nations
The Foundation's National Affairs area grants awards to nonprofit organizations and programs finding solutions to improve the quality of American life. Current beneficiaries include:
- The United Way
- The National Organization on Disability
Xerox also encourages its employees to follow its lead and get involved in their communities.
- The Xerox Community Involvement Program (XCIP) provides employees management-supported opportunities to volunteer their time, talents and energies, either individually or collectively, to help solve community problems.
- For those deeply committed to social change, the Social Service Leave Program affords employees the opportunity to take a one-year paid sabbatical to work in a social service program.
Xerox Community Education Programs help students at all levels improve their chances of succeeding in school--and in life. Some of these programs include:
- For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Competition and FIRST Lego League Competition
