Diversity: Making All the Difference
Our view on a diverse work force is most eloquently expressed by Xerox Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Anne M. Mulcahy:
"I'm convinced diversity is a key to success. Experience tells us that the most diverse companies -- companies ruled by a hierarchy of imagination and filled with people of all ages, races, and backgrounds -- are the most successful over time.
"Somehow, diversity breeds creativity. Maybe it's because people with different backgrounds challenge each other's underlying assumptions, freeing everybody from convention and orthodoxy.
"We provide a shining proof point that diversity in all its wonderful manifestations is good for business...good for our country...and good for people."
And now, a few stats that corroborate those eloquent words:
Our employee roster is made up of over 30% African-Americans, Latinos, Asians and Native Americans. In fact, Xerox has been rated as one of the Top 10 companies in hiring Minorities, Women, Disabled and gay and lesbian employees by Fortune, Forbes, Working Mother, Latino Style, and Enable Magazines. Xerox also placed 5th in Best of the Best for Women & Diversity, a special report produced by Diversity Best Practices and the Business Women's Network.
If Diversity equals Success, then that equation certainly bears out at Xerox.
Equal Opportunity Employer Xerox Corporation is an equal opportunity employer and, as such, affirms in policy and practice to recruit, hire, train, and promote, in all job classifications, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, citizenship status, marital status, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Furthermore, Xerox will not discriminate against persons who are veterans of the Vietnam era. Similarly, considering the need for reasonable accommodation to their limitation, Xerox will not discriminate against persons because of their handicap, including disabled veterans.
