A Working Group with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) developed the Internet Printing Protocol. It has become a Proposed Internet Standard and will join the series of successful Internet protocols with which you are already familiar: SMTP, POP3, MIME, SNMP, FTP, LDAP, etc.In fact, IPP is making use of both HTTP and MIME, building on existing Internet technology. By making this software freely available, we hope to promote the development of interoperable products that implement the IPP standard. This tool was designed and implemented by Xerox research to validate the IPP specification and to be an aid in developing IPP servers. The tool is for development and research use only and is not meant to be a commercial product. The tool is written in 100% Java as a standalone application and should run on all standard Java 1.1 Virtual Machines. Xerox hopes that you will find these tools useful and welcomes your input.
