The Xerox Document Print Executive for the AS/400 (XDPE/400) is a total solution printer manager. Electronic forms, fonts, graphics and logos can now be combined with variable application data to create detailed, personalised documents.Documents that contain ordinary, unformatted text can be formatted into powerful, impressive documents automatically. All of this can be done without modifying your current applications. From local area networks to enterprise-wide printing, XDPE/400 provides access to the full line of Xerox Intelligent Laser Printing Systems. XDPE lets you use VIPP on the AS/400 platform without changes to their applications. XDPE reads the unmodified spool file and generates another spool file with embedded VIPP and PostScript commands generated from the standard OS/400 spool file attributes. The XDPE generated spool file enhanced with VIPP and PostScript commands is processed by the OS/400 writer and sent to the VIPP enabled printer using the standard TCP/IP protocol. JDTs and other VIPP or PostScript resources can be created and edited on the AS/400 and downloaded to the VIPP enabled printer using XDPE commands.

XDPE/400 has updated the user interface and completed test validation of the following features:

Dynamic page level selection of electronic forms, paper tray, page orientation, report subdivision.
Colour text printing from DDS printer files or OfficeVision/400 can be accomplished without any application changes.
Send a job once and print multiple copies on one or more printers
Monitors an AS/400 Output Queue and enables electronic printing.
When a ready AS/400 spool file is detected, it prints with the insertion of Xerox DJDEs, Xerox Escape Sequences or PCL commands and print resources.
