The Ducati Xerox Junior Team
Alongside the Superbike team, we also sponsor the Ducati Xerox Junior Team, an initiative launched by Ducati to encourage and develop new talent with the introduction of the Ducati Xerox Junior Team into the highly competitive European Superstock series. We are really happy to have the riders of the future as part of our team.
Managed by 1997 Italian Superbike Champion and ex World Superbike rider, Serafino Foti, the Ducati Xerox Junior Team is fielding two promising young riders in the 2008 Superstock 1000 series, Brendan Roberts and Domenico Colucci.
2007 was a tremendous year for one particular Ducati Xerox young gun as Niccolò Canepa won the European Superstock 1000 series. The highly talented young Italian, who started his racing career in 1999, will be the 2008 Ducati MotoGP test and substitute rider while also taking part in minimum of 3 World Superbike races for the Ducati Xerox Team. We are convinced that Niccolò has a massive future in motorsport, but he has to finish his university career first!
The team’s other young Italian, Domenico Colucci, made his track debut in 2003 aboard his uncle's Ducati Pantah aged just 14. He made his debut in the Ducati Xerox Junior Team in 2006 in the European Superstock 600 series. After some promising form in the 2007 Superstock 600 series, Domenico’s season was cut short due to injury.
With Canepa’s change of role within the Ducati Corse set up, Domenico will be stepping into the Superstock 1000 series to partner Australian Brendan Roberts.
Brendan started his racing career in 1992 at age of seven and began competing in Europe in 2005. 2006 was a big year for the young Aussie as he took the British Superstock crown whilst simultaneously completing six races in the European category. In the 2007 European Superstock, Brendan’s form was inconsistent due to a bad wrist injury sustained early on in the season, but with an excellent track record, the outlook for 2008 looks bright. We are backing Brendan all the way and will be following all their progress with real interest. Good luck boys!
