The Superstock 1000 FIM World Cup was introduced as an integral part of the World Superbike calendar in 1999. This category is designed to encourage world champions of the future and features young riders (the age limit is 24) on strictly controlled machinery.
Since Xerox came on board as title sponsor, the team has had a lot of success. 2007 saw Niccolò Canepa win the series. He is now a MotoGP rider! The 2008 championship was won by Brendan Roberts who will ride a Ducati for the Guandalini Superbike Team in 2009.
