University gets education in using digital printing solution
to share knowledge faster
UBC Commerce at the University of British Columbia, located in Vancouver, B.C., is a leader in business education. With 1,750 students in undergraduate and graduate programs, and 21,500 alumni in 60 countries, the school requires an enormous amount of printed materials-8 to 9 million impressions a year.

Historically, the only way to meet peak printing volumes at the beginning of each term was to require the school's printing center staff to work long overtime hours. The result was high costs for overtime pay, as well as reduced staff morale. To lower expenses and reduce the burden on staff, the school looked for a more efficient way to share knowledge and handle the printing and customization of course materials.

Working with Xerox, the school put in place a digital printing solution with powerful printing, copying, scanning, and faxing capabilities. The solution provides immediate access to current, accurate information through a secure, convenient environment. It has also reduced staff overtime, created additional revenue potential, and caused other departments to recognize the printing center for the valuable service it delivers.
