| The United States Chamber of Commerce Center for Corporate Citizenship announced that Xerox won the Corporate Citizenship Award in the category of U.S. Community Service. The award acknowledges businesses and chambers of commerce that have demonstrated ethical leadership and corporate stewardship and have made a difference in their communities. "Xerox is an example of corporate citizenship at its finest," said Chamber Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Suzanne Clark. "Xerox is one of our nation's pillars, advancing important social and economic goals for communities across the country." Xerox Corporation made a significant impact in its community this year by supporting the volunteer activities of 13,000 Xerox employees. Xerox's long history of social responsibility includes its Social Service Leave program, which offers paid sabbaticals for community service, and the Xerox Community Involvement Program, which provides seed money for Xerox teams to fund community projects. Winners were announced on Nov. 8, 2005, at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. The other categories were: Citizenship in Action, International Community Service, Corporate Stewardship Small/Midsize Business, and Corporate Stewardship Large Business. U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue, Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez, and Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter presented the awards. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Center for Corporate Citizenship is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the environment in which businesses operate. -XXX- |
