Xerox Canada Contributes $250,000 to Acadia University
As part of its commitment to investing in Atlantic Canada and promoting good environmental stewardship, Xerox Canada has committed $250,000 to the K.C. Irving Environmental Trust at Acadia University, in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

Over the next five years, Xerox will contribute $50,000 per year to the endowment fund that will support environmental education of Acadia students. The first check was presented in March 2006.

"I would like to thank Xerox Canada for supporting Acadia's vision to integrate environmental stewardship and community engagement into our teaching and learning practices," says Dr. Gail Dinter-Gottlieb, president and vice chancellor of Acadia University. "We are one step closer to reaching our goal for the K.C. Irving Environmental Trust, and our success truly depends on the confidence and generosity of partners like Xerox Canada. This donation allows us to continue to provide our students with a quality, personalized educational experience in our complex world."

The trust supports special programs and research initiatives by faculty and students of the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre and the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens, which contain state-of-the-art research laboratories, greenhouses, a conservatory, an auditorium, classrooms, conference meeting facilities, and a spectacular Garden Room. The center and gardens serve as important teaching and resource facilities concentrating on the ecology and native flora of the "Acadian Forest Region" of northeastern North America.

Xerox previously committed more than $150,000 in cash, equipment and services to Acadia University in 2000 as part of the Acadia Advantage program to promote information technology literacy in undergraduate, liberal arts and science classrooms.

Xerox Canada employs about 1,000 people in Atlantic Canada and operates two North American Teleweb centers in Saint John, New Brunswick, and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
